At Grand Sichuan Chinese restaurants, they serve mainly the authentic (real, original or genuine) Sichuan food.
Sichuan food originated from Sichuan province in China and has a long history of more than two thousand years. Sichuan is an inland province in the southwest of China and far away from the sea. Geographically, it is a huge basin surrounded by high mountains. The subtropical climate is hot and humid. For thousands of years, agriculture was a major part of life. Under these circumstances, Sichuan food was formed.
At Grand Sichuan, they take pride in cooking with this history and culture always in mind. Cooking in a classic stir-fry manner and staying true to their Sichuan roots, Grand Sichuan allows you to take a trip through Chinese history by closing your eyes and experiencing all of the flavors they have to offer.

Pork soup dumplings and pork fried rice were very, very good. They were also very good at accommodating my allergy to poultry, which I cannot say about many Chinese restaurants.
Delivery was a little slow, about 75 minutes, but the driver was very friendly. The food was worth the wait, in my opinion.

Delivery man very rude. Will not order again.
Food is ok but they increase the price by about $1 per dish recently.

Food is not bad, hence I've gone to this place a few times.
BUT BEWARE: the delivery time is ALWAYS at least 1.5 hours from when you place your order!!! The "estimate delivery is 30-45 minute" statement is completely deceiving and not true.
Posted a year ago by Katerina L.
1.5 hours, the slowest delivery I have ever experienced.
I made a phone call, and was hung up write after I said the problem.

Be aware of the angry chinese delivery man!!! this review is only for their delivery man. I just had the most frightening experience where he started yelling, demanding that I give more tip, and refused to leave. He kept himself in the middle of the doorway and blocked the door when I tried to close it. I am a regular customer at this restaurant and always gave a good tip. Today is the first time I gave less than 10% for the delivery because I am short on finances. I simply can't believe they allow this kind of behaviour. It reflects poorly on the restaurant management itself. Never ordering from here again. Safety trumps good tasting food.

This is the best asian in JC! Don't bother with any other Chinese restaurants, I've tried and I always come back here.

The food is tasty and delivery time is as expected

Food came within 16 minutes?? And I live several city miles from it. How is that possible unless it was microwaved and it certainly tasted like it. Food tasted really awful and not like I've had from here before. That's why I give it a 2 still; maybe it was a bad night but this was really disappointing.

Some of the best authentic Chinese food around. The soup dumplings are phenomenal.

The food was not good. I did not like the taste at all. It wasn't greasy but it wasn't good either. Even the white rice tasted bad.
I would not order from there again.

You would think with everyone complaining about their delivery that they would try to fix that. Nope. Waited an hour and a half for an order of string beans and wontons.

great authentic sichuan cuisine. highly recommend their soups and their ma po tofu!

The lomeins are so-so, the rice is pretty blend. I have no idea how this restaurant could have 4 stars in some reviews...

good flavor, slow dilivery

Food here is fantastic and this is one of our top three delivery places in JC. We're addicted to the Ma Po Tofu, spicy beef noodle soup, green beans and braised pumpkin and order those the most, but have been pleased with everything we've ever tried here, but the spicy dishes are where they shine the most. Delivery time has also never been an issue -- always arrives within the expected hour or so (we're within a 10 minute walk from the restaurant fwiw).

Food is good but on the expensive side. Delivery does take some time. So order ahead of time.
Posted 2 years ago by Fan Heung C.
Excellent "go to" for authentic Sichuan food. We love the Dan Dan noodles, Red Cooking Pork with Spareribs, the spicy green beans and chinese brocoli. My young daughters just can't get enough of the pork soup dumplings and the pork fried rice.

The delivery driver was beyond rude. Not ordering from here again

Vegetable lo mein and general tso were very good. Lo mein had great flavor, as did the general tso. General tso was not very spicy even though we requested it extra spicy. Delivery time was reasonable (about 30 mins). Great price.

Took 2 hours and the delivery guy just left the food outside in front if my building. Real nice.

The Kung po and steamed dumplings has a horrible taste to it.
I called them because they screwed up my order. They said they would bring the incorrect item back well over an hour now. I will not be ordering from them again.
Posted 2 years ago by evan s.
The food is great. But the service is horrible. I ordered two dishes yesterday and guy who delivered the food complained to me that they didn't make any money from this order at all. Okay, if you can't make money from me, I won't order from you again.

Probably the best classic Chinese food restaurant in Jersey City.

Food is good but service is horrible. Slow delivery, and they stopped confirming orders via email.

Wow! I had such a good meal from this place last night that I woke up this morning with an awful feeling of regret and feeling sorry for myself. I'll hit the gym tonight to make up for it. I had the Sichuan Wonton in Red Oil. What great, interesting flavour this had. Gui Zhou Spicy Chicken was my main. I basically wanted to try something new and those were well-reviewed, and rightfully so. I'll try a different couple dishes next time. Great spiciness!

Why does almost everything I order from here taste cinammony sweet, why??? I hate sweet food, if I wanted sweet food I'd order dessert! The soup dumplings are great though
Posted 3 years ago by olga c.
Yes I love the food. But I just ordered Shrimp Kung Po and it has sweet potato in it. Doesn't work for me. My parents owned several Chinese restaurants and we never made it like that. What's the deal with that, right? I did really the taste of the sauce :) will continue to order but feel that I may be more happier if I just cal and ask what veggies are in the entrees.

The cumin lamb is over-cooked today. Disappointed. The customer service was suspicious of my complaints and expressed no sincere apologies.
Posted 3 years ago by Fangchen Y.
SERVICE is HORRIBLE! The guy answering the phone (I think it is the owner) is rude and meal was not delivered over an hour. When asked, he said if I don't like the way it is, I can cancel the order. What kind of attitude is that?! I give zero score to this place.
Posted 3 years ago by Shan W.
I ordered 1.5 hours ago and I'm still sitting here hungry at 9pm. I know their food is good, but they just can't seem to get their shniezz together when it comes to delivery. Just not worth the risk of this happening every 4-5 times.
Posted 3 years ago by Hoch S.
Took 70 minutes. Forgot scallion pancakes. Food was pretty good otherwise.
Posted 3 years ago by Steve C.
AUTHENTIC!!! My girlfriend is from China (I've been once) and confirms that this is very authentic. We order form here weekly.
We highly recommend the braised beef/fish with spicy chili sauce. The lamb dishes are also excellent. For those who complain they didn't like the food, notice that they ordered off the American portion of the menu.
My one negative is that the dumplings are so-so.
Posted 3 years ago by Matt H.
Great food but very poor delivery service. The delivery guy is very rude and tries to force you into paying more tip money. Eating there is a better experience in terms of service.
Posted 3 years ago by Jim N.
Food was great overall, seemed authentic although I've never been to China so what do I know? lol Something I wasn't expecting because I've never had it in my Kung Po/Pao is the Sichuan peppercorns. They totally overwhelmed the taste of the dish, tasting like a super bitter flower. Will not order the Kung Po from here again even though I love the dish generally.

not that great! mediocre at best -- bland sauces -
ordered Sesame Chicken - the chicken was nice choice white tender chunks; but the sauce was dry and bland.

I'd give a 4 star for the food quality, but the delivery person's rude and demanded a $10 tip...

This is one of the few authentic Chinese restaurants in JC. They specialized in Sichaun styled food - i.e. soup dumplings/ma po to fu/sauteed string beans/soup dumplings and not more Americanized chinese food like fired rice or Lo mein. I order from here regularly and while occasionally they put in a bit too much MSG for my liking, the food is typically well prepared and very flavorful. Off the beaten track dishes like Beef Tendon and Ox Tongue are well worth it.

Fried Rice is mediocre.
Orange chicken pieces are HUGE. Lots of meat, but I think thats why they lack a little bti of flavor on the inside. Nonetheless, they taste pretty good overall. Not spicy at all like the menu suggests. Would enjoy a little bit more kick to them
Posted 4 years ago by Jose P.
Food took over two hours to arrive. Spare ribs were like mush. Fried rice was decent.
Posted 4 years ago by Kiri S.
Some of the best Chinese (and Sichuan) around. Also the menu is far more extensive than your standard Chinese menu, which is awesome. Highly recommended if you are in the mood.
Posted 4 years ago by Michael L.
Order from anywhere but here. Not sure how this restaurant has four stars. The dumplings had a horrible paste, the beef was like bad sliced roast beef, the veggie roll wa....blach it was all awful. Please don't order from here. Choose another place.

The soup dumplings are great, the yeung chow fried rice needed more flavor!
Posted 4 years ago by Anish K.
Absolutely disgusting. I love all kinds of food but this is the kind of food that justify the picky eaters.
Posted 4 years ago by Andrew S.
Ordered a chicken and beef dish. The meat tasted like it's been sitting for days. Dry, mushy, and loaded with starch to cover up the poor quality food.
Posted 4 years ago by Hode L.
Quality is great...for all the different dishes I have ordered. Definitely a cut above the rest.
Posted 4 years ago by Donald O.
I waited for over 1.5 hour . When I called them and asked if it is reasonable. They replied me yes. So, be alert that it normally take so long to deliver food within a mile. I am wondering why they put 30-45 minutes as their waiting time. They should change it to 1.5 hour to 2 hours according to our conversation. Could seamless staff follow up to check the accuracy of their waiting time posted.

Food tastes good, a bit too greasy, but delivery driver is RUDE. I tipped him 10% and he flat out said "Thats too little!" I would have tipped more if he didn't call me saying that he was here when he was 5 minutes away, and I had to stand outside waiting. And he took SO LONG when I live 5 mins away

DO NOT COUNT ON YOUR ORDER ARRIVING ANYWHERE NEAR ON TIME. Delivery service is unacceptable. They took over an hour and 15 minutes to deliver my food. When I called, they gave me attitude. They should have called me to let me know as soon as they accepted my order. I'm never ordering from them again--I can get cheap chinese food at a dozen other places.

Worst delivery- called me after an hour could no find my house- guess numbers are difficult.
NO apologize-s nada

Overall pretty good food even though some dishes can be way too salty or greasy.
Like some reviewers said, I think there is some inconsistency here; there are good days and bad days, and there are good dishes and bad dishes.

This restaurant is pretty quick with delivery and the food is authentic; however, they don't have as much variety as Confucious. Ordered from them many times and tried several different dishes and the best is the baby bok choy and the double cooked pork!

The food does not match up to the Sichuan restaurants in NY. But since this is the only one around where I live, its a goto when I am craving Sichuan food.

worst chinese food i ever ate. the beef fried rice was bland. the house special lo mein was tasteless. the pork soup dumplings had no soup and were too salty. the braised beef with chili sauce was spicy, yet bland. the beef with broccoli was mediocre at best. i will not order from here again.
Posted 4 years ago by Monica C.
Becareful when ordering during their busy time, their dishes can turn out either too salty or bad when they're busy. I've had several dishes that's really bad, when they take a while to answer the phone is an indication.
Posted 5 years ago by Wen Y.
Not very happy with my selection. I'm not sure if other things on their menu are any better, but my entree was very greasy and not that appetizing. The shrimp appetizer was just OK. Overall, a mediocre experience; at least it wasn't that expensive!
Posted 5 years ago by Brittany A.
Outstanding. Simply the best Chinese food in Jersey City and Hoboken area. Order off the classic Sichuan menu for a nice spicy tart. double cooked pork is outstanding. I have never had something I didn't like from there. On average the price is a little more but I think it's worth it for the quality you get. Also delivery driver has a habit of not wanting to come to your door and have you meet him on the sidewalk. I put up with it for the food otherwise that would be a deal breaker.
Posted 5 years ago by Garrett E.
Best Chinese food around Jersey City area. You have to know what you're ordering though, sometimes they're really spicy. And too spicy can't be good for your stomach. Delivery is a bit on the slower side, especially during peak hours. Try to avoid it. However, food quality is great and I would definitely order again.

Some of the best--and certainly most consistent--Chinese food in Jersey City. Try the Pork Soup Dumplings, they're awesome!

Awesome! Best Chinese food in Jersey City. The Dan Dan noodle appetizer is so great, I order it as my entree. The orange beef rocks too. This is the only Chinese food restaurant in town that I have liked (or loved!) everything I've ordered! Highly recommended.

Food is good. Gave 2 stars really for HORRIBLE customer service. Would have been out double the amount of money since my browser crushed while ordering and order is entered as a double. Restaurant people was EXTREMELY RUDE AND UNHELPFUL. Thank goodness seamless customer service helped. But what a bad experience. Would stay away from this place now.

I was so happy to find out there was a Grand Sichuan within delivery range of my apt when I moved to Jersey City, having been a customer of their Chelsea and East Village locations for years. Generally, the food here is up to the high standard of freshness of their nyc locations. Delivery time is generally less than 30 minutes regardless of the given estimate. I wish they would include more chili oil with the sichuan wontons. Asking for extra sauce in the comments does not help that matter.
The braised beef or fish in chili oil, the chong qing chicken (with bones), and the gui zhou spicy chicken are all delicious. I don't have as much experience with their "american chinese food" offerings, so I'm not sure how they do with those dishes.

Pork and Crab Dumplings are DELICIOUS! Unfortunately, the orange chicken had virtually no flavor at all. Very disappointing after the great dumpling appetizer.

THE SEAMLESS WEB CONFIRMATION SAID 30-45 MINUTES. AFTER WAITING 40 MINUTES I CALLED THE RESTAURANT AND THEY SAID THE DELIVERY TIME IS USUALLY 55 MINUTES. BY THE TIME THE FOOD IS GETTING HERE I WON'T HAVE TIME TO EAT AND WILL JUST BE HEADING HOME.
